I drew this picture long time ago: 2014/6/25, a night after my final exams in 8th grade. The bird in the picture is an African Pygmy-kingfisher (Spidina picta) and it's closing its eyes. It's never a good work as the color is strange and there aren't enough details.
Til now, it seems that I cannot use the water color pencils properly for however hard I press the pencils to the paper, the color is pale. But, another possibility could be the quality of these pencils was very poor.
I was not patient enough at that time. This kind of paintings always turned into a type of self-suffering in the end. It's easy to notice the beak and feathers on the bird's breast are better than the large feathers on its wings.
By drawing pictures according to the nice photos, I'm likely to try to copy down every details of the original pictures -- this is not my goal because it'll be hard to find my own style.
